AllanandthefemalealienarriveonOceano,joiningLaura,PaulandAnders.Thealienregainsconsciousnessandsmilesatthethreemen,butnotLaura.ThealienrefusestoeatallfoodofferedandwillnotletAnderstakeabloodsample.Thatnight,asPaulisguardingthealien,sheattacksandkillshim,draininghisbloodafterfirsthypnotizinghim.Thesurvivingastronautsdecidetokeepheralivebyfeedingherbloodfromtheship'splasmasupply.Whenthissupplyrunsout,shekillsAndersandfeedsonhim,leavingLauraandAllantheonlyhumansaboard.
ThealienthenattacksAllan,butLaurainterruptsherbeforeshecankillagain.Laurascratchesherinthestruggle,andthealienscreamsinterror,quicklybleedingtodeath.LauraandAllenthenfindalieneggshiddenaboard.Allanhypothesizesthatshewasroyalty,likelyaqueen(assuminghuman-likeinbreedingamongroyalty,henceherhemophilia),andwasbeingsenttoEarthinordertobreed.Theirspaceshiplandssafely,butEarthauthoritiesdecidetostudythealieneggsratherthandestroyingthemoutright,asAllanhasurged.
